🎓 Graduated (B.Sc.) from CSE, BUET
💡 Interested in Systems, Security, Software Engineering and Applied Machine Learning

I am Ehsan, a PhD student in the Computer Science Department at Stony Brook University. Prior to starting my graduate studies, I worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, BRAC University, from where I am currently on leave. I completed my undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

My research interests broadly span Systems, Security, Applied Machine Learning, and I aim to pursue research that contributes to building optimized, secure systems and to develop tools that abstract system complexity to enable efficient resource management.

My undergraduate thesis was titled Dependency and Priority Based Multi-Queue IoT Task Scheduling in Heterogeneous Fog Systems which was supervised by Dr. Rezwana Reaz. In this work, we developed a non-preemptive dynamic task scheduling algorithm that takes into account the heterogeneity of fog resources, as well as the priority, deadline constraints, and dependencies between tasks.

I began my research journey by collaborating on a project that tested the forecasting capabilities of various deep learning models, including CNN, LSTM, GRU, and multivariate CNN, for predicting number of COVID-19 cases. Next, I contributed to developing a multidimensional deep learning architecture to efficiently detect cardiovascular diseases from ECG signals and a knowledge distillation framework to reduce trainable parameters while maintaining performance. Papers from both of these projects led to publications in academic journals.

In my role as a lecturer, I taught the courses Operating Systems, Data Structures and Algorithms within the Computer Science and Engineering department of BRAC University. I also taught an introductory programming lab focused on Java, where I guided students through the basics of programming.

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling and following sports. I have been a Liverpool Football Club fan since childhood. Roger Federer and Lionel Messi are my favorite athletes.
